A huge thanks to those who have shown ever-lasting patience and a sense of humour in following the sometimes long-winded and indulgent story of my search for my grandfather’s missing first fifty-seven years.
You will be both pleased and relieved to learn that full details of the mystery will be revealed on October 22nd with the release of The Lost Fifty-Seven: A Genealogical Journey of Discovery, Deception, Secrets and Scandal.
I’ll keep this short and sweet.
The book covers my nine-year effort to uncover the truth about my grandfather’s missing first fifty-seven years. For those who don’t know, the story goes something like this:
Alfred Victor Williams arrived on the streets of Vancouver in June 1947. Within months he was a homeowner with a new bride and a child on the way. He was fifty-seven years old at the time. He lived another twenty years, but when he died, he took with him all details of his first fifty-seven years.
What did I end up discovering about his missing years? In a word, plenty. In fact, the entire story includes the following:
- Ancient lineage including the possibility that my own Williams family is “castle-breed.”
- A kidnapping of a niece that resulted in a generation-long family estrangement.
- A long-lost inheritance that my grandfather chased until his dying day.
- Unfortunate criminal charges against my grandfather.
- Multiple marriages, not always at different times.
- A secret identity that my grandfather used for the majority of his adult life.
How I discovered these details, why he led such a mysterious life and who I was able to connect with make up the content of this strange tale, one that I sincerely hope you will indulge in and enjoy.
The Lost Fifty-Seven: A Genealogical Journey of Discovery, Deception, Secrets and Scandal by Ron Williams will be available October 22nd in ebook, paperback and hardcover on your preferred Amazon site.
